This
one-person media unit produces print, A-V and new media
presentations for the Guam Cooperative Extension, the Guam
Agriculture Experiment Station, and the University of Guam.
I also teach various aspects of desktop-publishing, graphic
design, business communications, and Internet-based
communication whenever I can. In addition, I serve as a
community-resource person on media, communication and
computer issues.

Leader
of a government research effort into the US Navy's
hazardous-waste dumping and remediation activities on
Guam.
University
of Illinois (Aug. 1989 - April 1991)
1) International Programs and Studies. I researched and
edited journals articles and book chapters on Latin American
issues and was organizer of an international conference on
the Latin American debt crisis. Also co-wrote grants,
including a successful multi-million dollar grant to fund
the Latin American studies center.
2) College of Journalism. I edited faculty
publications,conducted research in visual communication,
co-taught courses in computer-assisted newspaper design and
in photojournalism, and oversaw the journalism computer lab.
On a freelance basis, I edited textbooks, ghostwrote a book
on business negotiation strategies, and photographed
professional musicians and others.
Journalism Days (July
1981 - Aug. 1992)
During
my journalism career I excelled in reporting on local
governmental affairs, ranging from courts to city and county
councils to state and federal politics. Southern California,
at the time I worked there, was one of the hottest
competitive markets for daily newspapers in the country.
Best
Beat: provided Southern California's most thorough regional
water coverage (encompassing the Southwest US and
Mexico).
Most
Memorable Story: a long-running series on an ancient burial,
its government cover-up, and the role it played in stirring
national dialogue on Native American rights and scientific
issues.
Also
oversaw operations of three outlying bureaus for two
different newspapers.

islands. Endeavored to resolve financial and administrative
problems, reworked circulation and promotion departments,
increased market saturation, managed and produced editorial
and advertising content with core staff of six and a dozen
stringers of mixed cultural and language skills.
