Unixware machine was a 66Mhz 486 machine with 64MB of Ram with a 1GB hard drive.
It originally was configured with two Ethernet cards and a modem, and provided Internet
access to the computers in D-4 and D-5 using a subnetted class C. This was before GCC had
any internet connection. The PC's were 386 machines with no hard drives, and running windows
3.11 off the old Novell 2.2 servers. Later when GCC got an internet connection thru Kuentos,
a third ethernet card was added to the machine to connect to the backbone. The UnixWare machine
provided a local cache of material used by classes, and also stored links to outside sites. It
was running a Web Server, Gopher, FTP, POP3, SMTP, NTP. It also acted as the smart mail server for
the Mercury Mail server integrated into the Novell Network, and providing Email access to over 1,300 users.
Basically, it was a local Internet providing all the real services.
