Pam
Eastlick is THE Planetarium Lady. When she isn't presenting
shows to 13,000 people a year, she's probably writing show scripts, doing
repair or routine maintenance on the Planetarium instrument, surfing the
Net for images and information or doing bulletin boards. If she isn't
doing that, she's probably writing or recording Tropical Skies,
the weekly Planetarium radio broadcasts or writing Starry, Starry Night
for the Pacific Daily News. Pam Eastlick also writes The
Deep column for the Marianas Variety. In her spare
time, she plays with her cats, and enjoys science fiction and mysteries.
Feel free to drop her a line at stars@guam.net
It
is with the deepest regret I inform you that the Planetarium and I have
lost our dearest friend. Mr. Mariano Mesngon left us to sail among the
stars on 9 April 2009
.
Mr. Mesngon, a talented
photographer, was responsible for the production of most of the lovely
pictures you see when you come to Planetarium shows and he also narrated
several shows. If you’ve seen the Christmas show, you’ll remember Mariano’s
lovely narration of the Christmas story. He also translated and narrated
the Chamoru language version of “Chamoru Sky Stories: Old and New”.
Mariano was deeply
involved in the maintenance and repair of the Planetarium instrument and
its peripheral devices. He provided moral support, constructive criticism,
invaluable advice and love for me and all my projects. We will not be the
same without him.
