National CMV hot line

MedExpress and NAPWA with support from Roche Laboratories is extending its education and prevention program the National CMV Hotline.
CMV (Cytomegalovirus) is the most prevalent viral opportunistic pathogen for people with HIV; 95 percent of people with AIDS are estimated to be CMV seropositive and up to 46 percent are at risk for sight-threatening CMV retinitis.
The hot line offers information about medical interventions for CMV and can offer new hope for people with advanced HIV who are at risk for CMV.
The confidential National CMV Hotline can be reached at (800) 838-9990. (Unfortunately this is not a toll free call from Guam.)
Remember, too, that Arrow has a video available for those who would like to learn more about CMV. The video is called "Recognizing CMV Retinitis."
Arrow also has printed materials and a request card for a free CMV Retinitis Screening Kit.
