Watch lab levels using Vistide

Gilead Sciences, the manufacturer of Vistide, also called cidofovir, has advised health care professionals to be cautious when prescribing the injectable drug.
Vistide should not be used if Serum Creatinine levels are higher than 1.5 mg/dl, creatinine clearance of less than 55 ml/min or a urine protein greater than or equal to 100 mg/dl
Also, Vistide is contraindicated in combination with several other prescribed medications. If you are taking Vistide, ask your doctor if your laboratory work has been done. Also, ask if you are taking any of the contraindicated medications.
