The Chamorros sailed out to sell them fruit,

"Guahan!" the Chamorros called.

(Guahan is a word that means
"I have" in Chamorro.)

This word sounded like "Guam"
to the sailors.

That's what the sailors called the island.

And that's how Guam got it's name!
