What is SHRM Guam?

We are a Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the leading voice of the human resource profession. SHRM, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1998, provides education and information services, conferences and seminars, government and media representation, online services and publications to more than 100,000 professional and student members throughout the world. The Society, with headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, is the world's largest human resource management association.

As a Chapter of the world-wide organization, SHRM Guam was founded to serve the HR profession in our part of the world. Originally organized in 1990 as the Western Pacific Human Resources Association, a chapter of SHRM, we later changed the name to the Society for Human Resource Management - Guam Chapter to readily identify with the standards and goals of the international organization. Our chapter designation number is 372.  We are legally established as a non-profit organization in the Territory of Guam, USA..... where America's day begins!

Our Mission...

• To promote fellowship and better understanding of the mutual problems affecting those engaged in human resource work in business, industry, and public service;

• To provide a means for the exchange of ideas and discussion of common problems;

• To encourage the application of scientific methods to the human problems of business, industry, and public service as a means of increasing the operating effectiveness of staff and management;

• To provide information regarding current trends in the administration of human resource management through the medium of outstanding speakers, significant reports and studies, and other means determined by our members; and

• To expand human resource technologies throughout the Western Pacific Region.
