Counseling

Blueprint for Excellence in Guiding

The job of Simon Sanchez counselors is to help students register for classes, according to the course selection guide, academic performance level, graduation requirements*, and student needs. The main goal of counselors is to help students graduate. Students are handled on a case-by-case basis.

On a personal level, counselors try to give students direction, and are able to refer students to people who can help them with problems. The counseling department now offers peer counseling for students who wish to discuss problems with other students there own age.

Students are assigned to counselors by their last name. Use the chart below to find the name of your child's counselor.

Guidance and Counseling Services (taken from student handbook, 1998-99): Sanchez has six full-time counselors. Students may make an appointment with the counselor for help with planning their schedules, for assistance with college and career plans and for help with school related problems. The counselors are readily available to help students cope with crisis. Parents are always welcome to talk with a counselor concerning their child.
