Course Description: This course includes the study of the human body as a whole. It is inclusive of all the body systems, its structures, and its functions. In this study, the common disea ses or disorders, its pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatments are addressed. There is an emphasis in the interaction of the body systems for the maintenance of the stable state, homeostasis. \par \par
Objectives: After completion of the course, the student will:
1. Gain an awareness and understanding of how the human body and its functions. 2. Gain an awareness and understanding of how the body systems interact with each other to maintain stability or homeostasis. 3. Gain knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiology of common diseases and disorders. 4. Apply basic principles of health to prevent and promote wellness. Activities and Design: Several learning techniques such as lectures, individual or small group presentations, guest speakers, multi media resources, seatwork and homework assignments and projects are utilized , and dissection of the human body by using computer software A.D.A.M ( Animation Dissection of Anatomy for Medicine) as a hands on learning experience.
