COPE (Clerical Office Practice and Etiquette)

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Typing I or Word-processing I
Course Description: This course is designed to train the student in the areas of office work to a level desirable for employment purposes. The student is also advised about office behavioral science and is expected to observe etiquette and principles taught throughout the entire course. Office simulation is the desired atmosphere.
Course Objectives:
*To further develop office skills by providing activities for practical application of business skills and knowledge acquired in other Business Education courses.
*To help the student become aware of the various tasks of the office worker.
*To motivate the student to reach a level of competence acceptable in business.
Course Activities: *Filing: Alphabetic, Numeric, Geographic, Subject
*Calculating Machines
*Typing--using simulation sets that use actual day to day situations documents and forms found in busines
*Payroll procedures--W-2 Form, time cards, payroll ledgers, taxes
*Proper grooming/dressing for the office
*Telephone etiquette/skills
*Basic office procedures
*Presentations and skits
*Fieldtrips
