Drafting II

Prerequisite: Drafting I

Course Description: Drafting I is a pre-requisite to this course. Students develop further skills in the safe use and care of drafting tools and equipment and in their drawing tools and equipment and in their drawing techniques. Areas covered are drafting media and reproduction, systems of graphic communication, functional drafting, weldin g drafting, sectional views, fasteners, surface development, inking drawings, and architectural drawing. Students make basic scaled drawings that are required in an architectural drafting such as that of a residential building. Scaled models are constructed based from the house plans made by the students. Students gain further knowledge, information, and skill to enable them to read, interpret, and draw plans and drawings.

Course Objectives: 1. Develop safety habits of work not only at school, but also at home and at the workplace. 2. Develop career awareness in various areas of drafting work. 3. Develop certain degree of skill in the safe use and care of drafting tools and equipment. 4. Gain knowledge and information about principles and techniques of free hand and mechanical drawing. 5. Solve technical problems that relate to various areas of drafting work. 6. Develop desirable work habits, attitudes, and ideals. 7. Develop social relations such as followership, leadership, cooperation, interdependence, etc . 8. Develop creativity in designing things through sketching or freehand drawing and mechanical drawing. 9. Develop wise use of leisure time through drafting work activities as a hobby. 10. Conserve supplies, materials, and other natural and human resources.

Course Activities: Text reading, lecture/class discussions, resource speakers, research work, viewing video tapes, films, filmstrips, and transparencies, field trips, laboratory work, group presentations, individualized and collaborative work, blueprint and model construction, etc.

Evaluation System: Students are evaluated based on the following : 1. Accuracy, legibility, speed, and neatness of drawings and other products of work. 2. Results of tests and homework, and group activities. 3. Observations on work habits and attitudes that students manifest in doing their work.
