Course Description:

This is an introductory course in which students learn to make functional and non functional art work from various types of media and/or materials. This is a Fine Arts course so Art History and Art Appreciation will be incorporated into the lessons as a natural and fun part of Art Education. During Class, students will learn how to create art work using the Elements and Principles of Design, drawing techniques such as shading, proportion, perspective and their relationship to painting.

General Objective:

This course is designed so that the students will integrate Visual Arts knowledge with other content areas. Students should also be able to apply skills learned in real life experiences. Students will develop and apply various creative problem solving strategies while exploring and experimenting to discover solutions. Students will learn to self assess, plan, discuss, and evaluate projects and problems encountered.

Student Project and Portfolio 60%

Exams, Written Papers 20%

Behavior/Rules/Consequences

It is expected that a student’s behavior is acceptable while in the classroom. A behavior contract, acting as an agreement between the teacher and the student is signed and shows that the student is responsible for their own actions. Parents/Guardians will e contacted if student displays the need for assistance in being responsible.
