Intermediate Choir

Goals & Objectives:

This course is aimed at teaching basic music theory, the fundamentals of voice, and providing the opportunity to practice and develop the students’ ear, vocal, and music literacy skills. Students will also learn about composing, arranging, and transcribing music, as well as, gain a foundation in the history of western music.

Items Needed for Class: writing paper, music notation paper, pencil, a good attitude, a responsible student, exceptional effort, a great smile, a voice to work with, and last but not least…..a BIG HEART!

Grading: Quarter grades will be computed as follows

Assignments and Participation 25%

Quizzes 10%

Tests 15%

Performances 50%

Semester Grades will be the average of their composite quarter grades.

Rules & Regulations:

Students will be required to abide by all established school regulations and will be disciplined accordingly for any infractions. In addition, students are to practice and enforce classroom rules, punishments, and rewards that they themselves formulate.

Tardies & Absences:

  1. Three unexcused tardies shall be considered as one unexcused absence.
  2. Unexcused tardiness of more than ten minutes will be considered one unexcused absence.
  3. Three or more unexcused absence deems parental notice and/or referral to the administrator, which may lead to parent conference.
  4. Twelve or more unexcused absences is grounds for No Credit.
