SPEECH AND DRAMA
COURSE OUTLINE SY 1999-2000
MS.D. KIM
Welcome to Speech and Drama. This course can be used as an
English elective or as a fine arts elective. This class will help students
enhance their speaking skills, delivering speech and presentation, and
participate in drama.
First and Second
Quarter
Textbook: Speech - Exploring Communication
We are going to cover Chapter 1, 2, 7, 9,10, 11, 4, 5, 15,
16, and 13 throughout first and second quarter. (subject to change)
You will be graded on the following categories after reading
each chapter.
- Chapter questions
- In- class Activities
- Chapter Project
- Chapter Test
* You cannot pass this class without participating in all
activities.
Third and fourth
quarter
Textbook: Theater
You will be graded on the following categories.
- Pantomime
- Participation and cooperation
- Memorizing lines
- Acting
Grading System:
All assignments, quizzes, tests, and participation are done
on a point system. All points are added and then converted into percent. Be
sure to save all papers when you get them back.
Late Assignments/
Make-up work:
It is your responsibility to complete any assignments or
quizzes even if you were absent. You need to make arrangements and see me for
work that you never turned in or you missed. It is your responsibility to take
the initiative to make-up or turn in work. Any assignments that are turned in
late will always get points deducted.
Corridor Passes:
You are allowed to use up to two corridor passes throughout
the semester. However, if you do not use these passes, you will get extra
points to your final grade.
CLASSROOM RULES
1. Have respect for the teacher and others. ( this means NOT
talking when the teacher is talking.)
2. Come to class on time and prepared.
3. Inappropriate language or behavior will not be tolerated.
4. You are only allowed to use two corridor passes
throughout the semester.
5. Ms. Kim dismisses the class, not the bell.
6. All school rules apply.
