Course Description:
Course Objectives:
Unit 2: Students will be introduced to the number and diversity of Spanish-speaking communities. They will gain an appreciation for the importance of Spanish throughout the world. Students will express themselves in affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences.
Unit 3: Students will come to understand the concept of friendship and dating habits in Hispanic culture. They will be able to talk about their possessions and peer goup; describe people or objects with regards to appearance, origin, personality and cost.
Unit 4: Students will be introduced to Mexico, the country with the largest Spanish-speaking population in the world. They will be able to use Spanish to describe: their in school activities, out-of-school activities, where they live, how they feel, future plans, ongoing actions and activities. Students will also be able to write a postcard or short letter in Spanish.
Unit 5: Students will study Hispanic family life, the Spanish-speaking people of New York, and about Caracas, Venezuela. Students will use Spanish to describe their homes, families, belongings and those of others. They will also discuss actions and activities involving other people.
Unit 6: Students will gain an understanding for the Hispanic view of money and leisure activities. They will use Spanish to talk about sports, movies, TV, reading, wages and expenses.
