Description:
The
course deals with basic science principles with emphasis on the
interrelationships among the life, earth, and physical science. Science
activities are included to teach the methods of scientific inquiry through
direct student involvement.
Course
Objectives:
A.
To provide a unified basic general science background for the students'
future study of science.
B.
To provide opportunity to increase understanding of the world and the
environment and learn about ways to play an active role in the future.
C.
To develop the type of inquiry skills used by scientists utilizing
writing, math, and problem solving and manipulative techniques.

Midquarter
and weekly progress reports will be issued to students. Parents are required
to sign and have their child return the reports or score sheets to the
teacher. These are important documents for future references. Parent teacher
conferences will be held every first and third quarters.

Classroom
rules:
1.
Listen and follow directions at all times.
2.
Respect both peer and teacher and their right to perform tasks
unhindered by distracting noise, interruptions and inappropriate behavior.
3.
Raise your hand if you need to say anything or to ask permission to
leave your seat.
4.
No gum, food, or drink in the classroom.
5.
No sleeping or head-downs during class time.
6.
Corridor passes will be issued only for emergencies.
7.
Conduct subject-related activities only.
8.
Bring all needed materials at all times.
9.
Use appropriate language in the classroom.
10.
The teacher dismisses the class, not the bell.
11.
Observe all Simon Sanchez High School rules.
