HILTON GUAM RESORT & SPA LAUNCHES 2005 TRAIN DISPLAY

[18 November 2005, Guam] - A magical and brilliant train display awaits the community at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa main lobby. "The unique display takes adults back to Christmas Wonderland and lets kids see different types of trains in a different setting when compared with tropical Guam," said Manfred Pieper, general manager of the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa. "Actually, many young kids on Guam have possibly never seen trains, since our major means of transportation are cars and buses."

The Hilton welcomes the community to view the official launch of the train display, set for November 23 at 6 pm in the hotel's main lobby. The train will be on display through early January, operating from 9 am to 10 pm daily. As part of a longstanding tradition, the Hilton has chosen the local chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation as the main beneficiary of the train display proceeds. The Make-A-Wish Foundation's mission is to "grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy," according to the foundation's Web site.

The annual exhibit depicts railroad settings of the German, Austrian and Swiss Alps. The majority of the items used for this exhibit are special-ordered from Lehmann Gross Bahn, or LGB, a company from Nuremburg, Germany, which has a 125-year history of making quality toys. LGB, the German acronym for Lehmann's big train, is recognized as building the world's first model railroad for indoor and outdoor use, according to the company's Web site.

The exhibit featured at Hilton includes an oil refinery, a power plant, and a hot-air balloon launch pad, with three different hot-air balloons on display. Over 50 locomotives and railroad cars, 400 pounds of specially imported plaster and 2,000 feet of wire comprise the magnificent display.

After Hilton Guam's start of the train display, eight other Hilton properties in Asia have adopted the same train concept during the holiday season, each providing proceeds from the display to their charitable organizations.
